Danby Draws’ 30 Silly Comics With Random Twists

It is sometimes necessary to take a break from the daily grind and relax by watching “light” and peaceful stuff. We bring you the enjoyable, soothing, and curious comics of Daniel Murrell from Southern California to assist you with this chore.

“Danby Draws Comics” is a webcomic series that began in August 2020 and is updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It’s a “gag-a-day” comic book, according to the artist, that focuses on life, family, games, and geek culture. Danby Draws Comics’ mission is to provide amusing comics that make people smile.

“I’ve always enjoyed reading comic books and have done so since I was a child. And I’ve been drawing for a long time, on and off. I used to just share comics with friends, but during the pandemic, I began to distribute them on social media. They gradually improved with some feedback and practise. Bill Watterson and Kris Straub, two comic artists, are my main sources of inspiration. The comic’s purpose is to create beautiful cartoons that make people smile.”

We followed up with a few more questions for Daniel. First, we inquired as to whether the artist had any key influences in his life that may have aided in the development and refinement of his style.

“Like many others, I grew up reading Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes comics, which had a significant influence on the type of comics I enjoy making. Because I liked the way it appeared in his art, I still utilise the dark, inky outlines. I wish I could totally replicate the watercolours digitally, but it’s difficult. Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade and Kris Straub of Broodhollow are two more key influencers. I’m a huge admirer of their work.”
